
Mangalore, Nov 3, 2012: The districts of DK, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada received rainfall from the evening of Friday to the morning of Saturday. Coastal Karnataka experienced wet and gloomy weather for the fourth day as a result of the Cyclone Nilam that hit the coast of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Agricultural activities were affected and houses were damaged because of the rains. Crops were destroyed in several parts of the twin districts. The rain felled a number of trees, which led to power failure, in Udupi and Mangalore.
The changes in weather have wrecked the people’s health too, and doctors are getting more and more cases of vector-borne diseases and viral flu.
During the last 24 hours till 8:30 a.m., Belthangandy witnessed widespread rainfall of 15mm, Mangalore 35.5mm, Puttur 23mm, and Sullia 34mm.
