Tussle between under trials in district prison; CCTV cameras damaged

Mangaluru, Jan 20, 2015: The CCTV cameras installed in the  District Prison in the city were damaged during a  reported fracas between under trials on January 19, Monday.

The incident is learnt to have taken place  while escorting back  Arafat and Ravoof, the accused in the Derlakatte forced sex case, from the video conferencing room in the ‘B’Block. The two under trials were lodged in the ‘A’ block.

Sources said an under trial lodged in the B block had  splashed Sambar over Arafat resulting in the tussle.

However jail authorities said there was no clash but only a heated exchange of words  when the prisoners damaged the CCTV cameras.

Barke police  rushed to the prison following the incident and took appropriate action.
