Tulu is a matter of identity, not just emotion for coastal people: Harish Kumar

Mangaluru, Sept. 17, 2026: Tulu is not merely an emotional attachment for people of the coastal region but an integral part of their identity, former Dakshina Kannada District Congress president Harish Kumar said.

Speaking at a press conference at the Dakshina Kannada District Congress office on Wednesday, Harish Kumar said the recognition of Tulu is a long-standing aspiration of people in the coastal region.

He expressed hope that the demand would be addressed during the Karnataka Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held in Mangaluru.

Harish Kumar also said that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who has completed 100 days as Chief Minister, has been actively working to understand people’s concerns and address their problems.

He expressed confidence that the Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru would lead to several important decisions concerning the coastal region, particularly in areas such as tourism, IT parks and fisheries.
