Tulu Sahithya Academy releases list of award winners

Mangalore, May 9, 2012: The Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy announced the names of the winners of its annual awards at a press conference held in the academy hall on May 9. 

Umanath Kotian, the president of the Tulu Sahithya Academy, told reporters that honorary awards and best author awards will be conferred on six Tulu personalities at a glittering award ceremony, which will be held on June 16 at 3:00 p.m. in Town Hall. 

 

The honorary awards will be conferred on Bola Chittaranjandas Shetty for Tulu literature, Sitharam Shetty for Tulu drama, and T. A. Shrinivas for Tulu cinema. The award comprises a memento, a citation, and Rs. 10,000. 

The best books awards will be conferred on Puttige Padmanabha Rai for his Tulu novel Sathyadarshini, Dr. Ashok Alva for his anthology of Tulu short stories Onji Kundu Nalpa Kathelu, and Ratnakar Rao of Kavoor for Bhutala Pandye. The awards comprise Rs. 5,000, a memento, and a citation each.

Several members of the academy were present at the press conference.
