Karkala, Jan 14, 2026: As a precautionary measure to prevent forest fires and to ensure the safety of the public, tourists, and trekkers, trekking has been temporarily banned in several forest and wildlife areas under the jurisdiction of the Kudremukh Wildlife Division.
The ban applies to trekking routes within Kudremukh National Park, Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, and Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The Assistant Conservators of Forests of the Kudremukh Wildlife Division, Karkala, have issued an official order prohibiting entry to these trekking routes from January 14 until further notice.
Forest officials have been instructed to widely publicize the restriction, install warning signboards, and deploy adequate staff to strictly enforce the ban across all notified trekking zones.
Entry has been prohibited on the following trekking routes: Gangadikallu, Kudremukh Peak, Kurinjal, Valikunja (SK Border), Valikunja (Karvashe), Narasimha Parvatha (Kigga), Narasimha Parvatha (Malanduru), and Kodachadri (Valuru and Hidjelumane routes).
Authorities have appealed to the public and adventure enthusiasts to cooperate with forest officials and refrain from entering restricted areas during the fire season. They have warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
