Puttur, Nov 6, 2025: A travel firm in Puttur has been accused of taking ₹1.5 lakh from a youth and fraudulently sending him to Myanmar.
In his complaint to Puttur Town Police, 42-year-old Hussain from Someshwar, near Ullal, said Illiyas and Yash, the owners of Golden Travels in Puttur, assured his pre-university passout son Haimad Razak of a job in a gaming firm in Thailand. He paid ₹1.5 lakh to the firm towards visa and other charges.
Mr. Razak left for Thailand on October 17. The next day, Hussain received a call from his son, who said that after his arrival in Thailand, he had been taken by a group of persons to different places and was not told where he was being taken.
A few days later, he received calls from his son from different numbers, and the youngster said he had been taken to Myanmar, where the National Army took him and other persons into their custody and seized their mobile phones. When Mr. Hussain called Illiyas on October 29 to inform the latter of his son being in the Army’s custody, Illiyas cut the call after telling the former that he was not responsible for it.
The father then filed a complaint accusing Illiyas and Yash of cheating his son of a job in Thailand and putting him in a difficult situation in Myanmar. The police have registered his complaint under Sections 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act. The police said Mr. Hussain has been asked to approach the Protector of Immigrants in Bengaluru for necessary action.
