
Mangalore, Jan12, 2013 : A programme showcasing Thai culture was presented at the Hotel Gateway in Mangalore on January 11, Friday by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The main objective of the programme was to attract tourists and boost the tourism potential of Thailand.





As a part of the strategy for 2013, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will be promoting newer destinations in Northern Thailand including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Khao Yai along with attractions from South- Trang, Surat Thani and Koh Samui.
The cultural presentation in Mangalore included Thai dance, and there was an exhibition of Thai dance and other unique traditions of Thailand.
Sethaphan Buddhani, Director, Thai Tourism Authority, Mumbai Office, said Thailand was hopeful that Mangalore too can contribute to Thai tourism and added most of the visitors to Thailand came from smaller pockets of the nation.
He said the Tourism Authority also has plans to arrange familiarization trips for media and trade sector, with a special thrust on eco-tourism, medical tourism, etc.
He said a total of 9,16,787 Indian tourists visited Thailand in 2011 while the number increased to 10,16,013, an up by 11 per cent.
