Mangaluru, May 15, 2025: The Mangaluru police have arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of 30-year-old former Bajrang Dal activist Suhas Shetty, a murder accused, in Bajpe on May 1.
The police gave the names of the three persons as Azharuddin, 29, a resident of Kalavaru village; Abdul Khader, 24, a resident of Bajpe; and Naushad, 39, a native of Farangipete in Bantwal taluk.
According to a press release, Azharuddin provided the assailants with information about the movements of Shetty. Azharuddin was accused in three cases of theft reported in Mulky, Surathkal, and Panambur police station limits.
Khader helped the assailants escape in a car after Shetty was hacked to death. Naushad was involved in the conspiracy and was also part of the group that killed Shetty. Naushad was an accused in six criminal cases, including a case each of murder, attempt to murder, and dacoity registered in Mangaluru and other parts of Dakshina Kannada district.
The three were produced before the jurisdictional magistrate, who allowed the police to keep them in their custody for seven days for further questioning. Search is on for other accused involved in the murder, the police said.
On May 1, a group of people came in two vehicles and blocked the way of Shetty, who was moving in a car with his friends. They then hacked Shetty to death. With the latest arrests, a total of 11 persons have been held so far in the case.
