
Mangaluru, Jul 14, 2026: Following the tracing of 11 Bangladeshi nationals at two construction sites in the Urwa Police Station limits, the Mangaluru police have registered a case against three men from West Bengal for allegedly bringing them to the city and employing them as labourers.
Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H said the middlemen have been identified as Moidin Islam, Rasul Islam and Dilwar Hussain, all natives of West Bengal. The trio had been bringing labourers from various northern States to work in Mangaluru. During the investigation, it was found that some Bangladeshis had allegedly been brought along with these workers.
The police have arrested Moidin Islam and Dilwar Hussain in Mangaluru. Rasul Islam was traced to Kolkata through coordination between the Mangaluru police and the Kolkata police.
The Police Commissioner said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) coordinated with the Kolkata police to secure Rasul Islam’s arrest. A Mangaluru police team has left for Kolkata to take him into custody and bring him to the city for further investigation.
He said further interrogation of the arrested is expected to reveal whether more people were involved in the alleged network of bringing illegal immigrants to Mangaluru for employment.
