Mangalore, Sep 11, 2013: Thousands of college students participated in ‘The Run for Bharat’ organized as a part of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on September 11, Wednesday.
The rally organized by Swami Vivekananda 150th birth anniversary celebration committee commenced from the Jyothi circle and concluded at Central Maidan.
The day commemorated the 120th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech made in Chicago on September 11, 1893.
Participating as the main speaker on the occasion, RSS National committee general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said that the youths of nation must be united to work for the development of the country.
He also said that youth must take the responsibility to awaken the World. Although Vivekananda is not present between us, but his principles and love for the country is still alive in people’s hearts.
Swami Vivekananda had always dreamt to make India free from violence, but unfortunately this message had just remained as his dream, where youths fight with each other for caste and religion.
The dignitaries also paid a floral tribute to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik , Corporation bank AGM Govinda Pai, Karnataka Bank Chief manager Srinivas Deshpande and many others were present.
