Thokkottu: Speeding auto-rickshaw hits pedestrian, leaves man critically injured

Ullal, Sep 1, 2026: A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw near the Thokkottu rickshaw stand on Tuesday morning. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.

The injured person has been identified as Chandrashekar (62), a resident of Kapikad and owner of Pancham Caterers. He is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Deralakatte.

According to reports, Chandrashekar had purchased milk from Nandini Parlour in Thokkottu and was crossing the road when the auto-rickshaw, travelling at high speed from Thokkottu towards Kuthar, hit him and overturned.

Chandrashekar sustained a serious injury to his forehead in the impact. Auto-rickshaw driver Prashanth also suffered minor injuries.

Personnel from the Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
