The Voice of Blood donors & DK Red Cross mark ’World Blood Donor Day’ in city

Mangaluru, June 14, 2021: Every year June 14 is celebrated as World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. Various Camps are organized at many places to donate blood on this day,  World Blood Donor Day.  Today many generous large hearted people joined with The Voice of Blood donors, team tiger & DK Red Cross to increase the collection and awareness for safe blood, a reality for everyone.

The slogan for the event and participants “Give blood and keep the world-beating”. The message highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving the  health of all in need.

A special collection drive was held today at the DK Blood Bank centre at Lady Goshen Hospital, Hampankatta, Mangalore.  A good number of volunteers turned up and 42 units of blood were immediately collected and many were motivated to do so on demand.

The objectives of this year’s campaign: *To thank blood donors in the world and create wider public awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation. * Promote the community values of blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and social cohesion. * Encourage youth to embrace the humanitarian call to donate blood and inspire others to do the same. * Celebrate the potential of youth as partners in promoting health.

This important day is marked to raise awareness among people about blood donation and to thank all those who have ever donated blood in life and have saved many precious lives. The efforts also encouraged people to donate blood so that they could contribute to saving someone else’s life.
