Moodbidri, Sep 26, 2013 : Tension was in the air at Moodbidri for some time on September 25, Wednesday afternoon, when an advocate fired a few rounds of bullets in the air following a clash between him and a student.

According to sources, the car in which the advocate Shanthi Prasad Hegde was travelling with his daughter, hit a student while taking a reverse near the town’s bus stand.
The student who was injured, reportedly picked up a quarrel with Hegde and even held him by his collar. This led to a heated argument and the advocate’s supporters reportedly assaulted the student. Later, the advocate using his pistol fired a few rounds of bullets in the air after hitting the student on his head with the revolver, further adding to the tension.
The student was later taken into custody. He has sustained head injuries and has been admitted to the government hospital.
It is learnt, some people even tried to create tension taking advantage of the incident, but their efforts were foiled after Muslim community leaders intervened.
Shanthi Prasad Hegde who is the younger brother of State Bar Council President Padma Prasad Hegde, had been attacked on a couple of occasions earlier too.
