Temples are power houses of Hinduism: Pejawar Seer

Udupi, Feb 10, 2013 : Temples should work towards the overall development of the Hindu community by engaging themselves in social activities too alongside with religious activities, said Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt.


He was speaking after inaugurating  a  meeting of  management committees of notified temples  of the district held at the Town Hall in Udupi on February 9, Saturday under the aegis of the Religious Endowment  Department and Udupi District Dharmika Parishat. The seer declared open the convention by blowing the conch.

The seer declared open the convention by blowing the conch.


“ Let the temples hold poojas, renovations and brahmakalashotsavs. But alongside they should also try to develop a good rapport with all sections of the community and ensure steps to strengthen the community.


“Temples and mutts can prevent conversion,” he said adding ‘ Preventing conversion cannot be considered anti-secular.”


Temples are the  power houses of Hindu Dharma, he said  and added  it were the temples which protected and preserved ancient Hindu culture, customs and traditions despite onslaughts since centuries.


K Raghupathi Bhat, Udupi MLA, presided over the function. Kota Srinivas Poojari, Mujrai Minister and Udupi District Minister was present as a chief guest.


Upendra Nayak, Udupi ZP Chief, Kiran Kumar, Udupi CMC President, Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, Coastal Development Authority President,. Sheela K Shetty, President of Coir Development Board, Dharmika Parishat Members Appanna Hegde, Jayaram Bhat, Ramachandra Bhat, Ravindra Shetty, ZP CEO Prabhaker Sharma and others were present.
