According to police, Srujan had gone fishing with three friends on Saturday afternoon. Afterward, the group approached a nearby rainwater-filled foundation pit, dug for brick-making, to wash their hands and feet. During this time, Srujan reportedly slipped and fell into the deep water.

One of his friends attempted to rescue him but failed, nearly falling in himself before being pulled back by the others. The frightened boys then returned home without informing anyone.

When Srujan did not return home by evening, his family questioned the boys, who initially gave misleading information. Upon further questioning, they revealed the incident, following which the family alerted the police and fire and rescue services.

A search operation was launched, and Srujan’s body was recovered from the pit around 11:30 pm. Konaje police have registered a case and are investigating.
