He said that the city police have seen minor boys in the company of offenders facing serious criminal charges. The police have registered 12 cases under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act against those with serious charges, the Police Commissioner said.

“If the minors are seen with those involved in crimes, then the college principals must concede their failure in keeping vigil,” he added.

On Friday, the Mangaluru police arrested an MBBS dropout, who was accused of supplying drugs to students studying medical, pharmacy, and BDS.

Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Reddy, District Child Protection Officer N. Swetha, and others were present. The programme was jointly organised by Dakshina Kannada District Pre University College Principals’ Association and Indian Red Cross Society, Dakshina Kannada unit.
