Teachers’ Day celebrated in Mangalore

Mangalore, Sep 5, 2013: DK Zilla Panchayat in association with DK Teachers’ Day Celebration Committee, Mangalore, Department of  Public Instruction and Mangalore Block Teachers’ Day Celebration Committee  celebrated Teachers’ Day at Town Hall on September 5, Thursday.

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking after inaugurating the event, MLC Monappa Bhandary said Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first vice president was a great educationist who loved his teaching profession above all and always remained a teacher at heart even though he held several high offices.

He also said that three people including parents and teacher play a very important role in shaping the future of a child. A teacher lays the primary foundation of education in children and enjoys great respect in society, he said.

MLA J R Lobo who presided over the function, felicitated 68 retired teachers with shawl, garland, citation and a memento.

The dignitaries paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Radhakrishnan.

MCC Commissioner Ajith Shanady, Balakrishna Shetty, ZP member Asha and others were present.
