Mangaluru, Nov 7, 2026: Union Minister and Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi drew the attention of the coastal audience by beginning his speech in Tulu at a BJP rally in Mangaluru on Friday.
Addressing a large public meeting organised by the BJP Mangaluru division, covering Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, he greeted the gathering in Tulu, saying, “Maateregla Namaskara, Encha Ullar, Saukhya?” (Greetings to everyone, how are you? Are you well?). He also conveyed his wishes, saying, “Deverna Aashirvaada Maateregla Ippad” (May God’s blessings be with everyone).
The rally and public meeting were organised under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy’, following a massive procession from Clock Tower to Kadri Grounds.
Addressing the gathering, Suresh Gopi launched a sharp attack on the Opposition over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
“Using SIR as an excuse, the Opposition has tried to set the country on fire. We have felt the heat of that fire. Now, we will completely burn down your intentions and your malicious agenda. This is only the beginning,” he said.
He accused Opposition parties of attempting to undermine the country’s constitutional framework and democratic values. He also alleged that those obstructing the country’s development, prosperity and the fundamental principles of Sanatana Dharma were acting against the nation’s interests.
Targets Priyank Kharge
Taking a dig at Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, Suresh Gopi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not going anywhere and would continue to lead the country. He alleged that Opposition leaders, their families and their political mentors would face political extinction.
Tejasvi Surya accuses Congress of undermining electoral system
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, addressing the gathering, accused the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of conducting a campaign over the past two-and-a-half to three years to erode public confidence in India’s electoral system.
He alleged that certain forces were attempting to create unrest and bring about a regime change in India, similar to developments witnessed in Bangladesh and Nepal.
Questioning the Opposition’s allegations of EVM manipulation, Surya asked whether the electronic voting machines had been faultless when the BJP won the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He also questioned why the Congress blamed EVMs for its electoral defeats, pointing out that the party had won elections in Karnataka, Telangana and Kerala using the same machines.
Surya further claimed that the Special Intensive Revision exercise had been conducted 12 times in the country, with 11 such exercises taking place under Congress governments. He questioned the Congress’s opposition to the exercise despite the rules remaining unchanged.
The public meeting was preceded by a large procession from Clock Tower to Kadri Grounds, attended by BJP leaders and workers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
