
Suratkal, January 28, 2026: A tragic car accident in Kottayam, Kerala, on Wednesday morning claimed the life of a youth from Surathkal and left four others injured.
The deceased, Shanmavaz (32), also known as Shameem, was originally from Angaragudde in Mulki taluk and was residing at Chirag Flats in Kana.
Those injured in the accident include Siraj from Katipalla, Ashfaq from Kan, Shabbir from Surinje, and a person originally from Rajasthan. Among the injured, Siraj is reported to be in critical condition.
Shameem and the others had traveled to Kottayam to work as bouncers for an event. The accident occurred while they were heading toward the venue in their car for breakfast. The vehicle reportedly lost control on a narrow road and plunged about 20 feet down.
Shanmavaz sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Siraj, seriously injured, was transported to Tejaswini Hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. Shabbir and Ashfaq have received treatment and been discharged. The driver, originally from Rajasthan, survived the accident.
