Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2025: A theft was reported at a wholesale store near Surathkal market, where Rs 3.5 lakh in cash was stolen. The incident came to light on Friday morning when the shop owner opened the premises.
Police said the lock of the shop had been broken overnight. The owner, Shameer, usually takes the day’s earnings home, but on Thursday night he left Rs 3.5 lakh in a drawer, intending to make some payments the next day.

Upon discovering the theft, he alerted Surathkal police, who visited the scene with fingerprint experts and a dog squad to collect evidence.
According to police sources, CCTV footage from nearby cameras has captured the suspect’s movements, and efforts are on to trace and arrest the culprit.
