Surathkal: Police raid illegal slaughterhouse, 3 arrested, house sealed

Surathkal, Oct 8, 2025: Acting on information about illegal animal slaughter at Abdul Khader’s residence on Block 8, Chokkabettu, Mangaluru Taluk, Surathkal police, led by PSI Raghunayak and his team, conducted a raid and arrested three accused.

The arrested individuals are Aziz Ahmad (55), Immyaj (41), and A.K. Ashik (22). Another accused, Basheer Chokkabettu, is currently absconding. The accused, including Immyaj, had illegally slaughtered two female calves brought by him, along with Basheer and Ashik, with the intention of selling approximately 233.89 kg of meat at ₹300 per kg.

The case has been registered under the Illegal Slaughterhouse and Animal Slaughter Act, targeting those preparing to sell meat without proper documentation.

Immyaj has around nine cases pending in various police stations across Mangaluru and Udupi districts, including Barke, Moodbidri, Panambur, Surathkal, Kapu, Kundapur, and Karkala. The court has ordered judicial custody for the arrested accused.

Authorities have recommended sealing the house used for these illegal activities.

The raid was conducted under the guidance of Surathkal Police Station Inspector Sh. Pramod Kumar P, with PSI Raghunayak, Raghavendra Naik, Janardhan Naik, Shashidhar Shetty, ASIs Taranath and Suketh, and staff including Rajendra Prasad, Saifulla, Satish Sattigeri, Manjunath Aytti, Anjinappa, Mohammad Anees, and Shine John. The operation was overseen by Assistant Commissioner Srikant K, following instructions from Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Deputy Commissioners Mithun H.N. and Ravishankar.
