
Surathkal, Mar 13, 2026: Surathkal police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of vehicle spare parts from a garage in the Hosabettu area and have recovered the stolen items.
According to the police, the arrested accused is Mukesh Das (46), originally from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and currently residing in Srinivasa Nagar, Banashankari, Bengaluru.
Police have seized stolen vehicle spare parts worth ₹96,000 from the accused. They also confiscated the Eicher lorry used in the crime, valued at ₹15 lakh. In total, property worth ₹15.96 lakh has been recovered.
Case Details:
On the night of February 14, 2025, the accused arrived in a lorry and parked it near Friends Garage, located beside the Hosabettu National Highway. The lorry had reportedly been parked there for repairs. During this time, he allegedly stole two heavy vehicle spare parts from the garage and fled in the same lorry.
Following a complaint filed by the garage owner at the Surathkal Police Station, the police launched an investigation and arrested the accused. He was later produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody, police said.
