Surathkal: Burglars target four homes, flee with silver lamp and valuables worth Rs 50,000

Mangaluru, Sep 6, 2025: A series of housebreaks in the usually quiet localities of Modinagar and Padmashree Layout near Muchoor, Surathkal, has left residents alarmed.

Burglars struck four homes in the early hours, breaking open doors and decamping with valuables worth around ₹50,000, including a silver lamp.

Police said the culprits also attempted to break into seven to eight other houses but were forced to retreat after being alerted by barking dogs.

CCTV footage shows two suspects, believed to be armed with sharp tools such as crowbars and possibly carrying knives. The men were also seen with bags, suspected to contain weapons.

According to police, the burglars appeared to have surveyed the area in advance and deliberately targeted unoccupied houses. Officers from the Surathkal police station inspected the spot and have launched a probe.
