Surathkal: 18-year-old engineering student dies of heart attack

Mangaluru, July 8, 2025: An 18-year-old engineering student collapsed and died due to a heart attack near Krishnapura Hillside in Surathkal on Monday afternoon.

The deceased, identified as Aftab, was the son of Asgar Ali, a resident of Hillside. Aftab was pursuing a diploma in electrical engineering in Surathkal. According to reports, the incident occurred around 12 noon when he suddenly collapsed while on his way to take a bath at home.

Aftab was the only son among four siblings. His three sisters are married, and his mother had passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he had been living with his father, an auto-rickshaw driver.

It is believed the incident happened shortly after his father left for work around 1 pm.
