Bangalore, July 14, 2012: The supporters of Halady Shrinivas Shetty and Karunakar Reddy organized a massive protest in Freedom Park, Bangalore as both the MLAs were not given a post in the newly formed cabinet.

BJP workers from Belthangady, Kundapur, and other places gathered in large numbers at Freedom Park and shouted slogans against BJP leaders. In their rage, they tore a poster of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat into shreds. Some of them even slapped the poster with their footwear.

Delivering the protest address on the occasion, BJP leader Sampath Kumar said that Halady Shrinivas Shetty has won the elections four times. He had never demanded a minister’s post, but was called to Bangalore by B. S. Yeddyurappa, former chief minister of Karnataka, and Sunil Kumar, the state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, who told him that he will be given a minister’s post. However, they changed their minds at the last minute and gave the post to Kota Shrinivas Poojary.

Further, he said that this is an insult not only to Halady Shrinivas Shetty, but also to his supporters and the entire district.

He said that several MLAs are planning to resign on Monday as a mark of protest against this insult.
