Suo motu case registered over bomb threat to Ullal Mosque; Speaker U.T. Khader calls for strict action

Mangaluru, Mar 03, 2026: The Ullal police have registered a suo motu case against a miscreant who posted a provocative comment on an Instagram page featuring the photo of Suhas Shetty, a Hindu organisation activist who was murdered in Bajpe, threatening to carry out a bomb blast near a mosque in Ullal.

The inflammatory message was posted from an Instagram account named ‘shankar11916’. The post read, “Support me bro, I will blast a bomb near Ullal mosque.” The message soon went viral on social media platforms.

Santosh Doddamani, a staff member of the Ullal Police Station who was on social media monitoring duty on Monday, noticed the post and filed a complaint. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered at the Ullal Police Station.

According to the complaint, the accused intended to create hatred between communities and provoke violence by inciting people through the post. It has been stated that appropriate legal action should be taken against the accused.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that the person responsible for posting the message would be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U. T. Khader has directed officials to take strict action against the miscreant for spreading such messages on social media.

Speaking to the Police Commissioner regarding the issue, Khader said that people of all communities in Ullal have been living in harmony and urged the police department to remain vigilant against attempts to disturb communal peace through such threat posts.
