Sumitha suicide case :Victim’s husband not a Bhajrangdal activist, says Sharan Pumpwell

 Mangalore, Dec 18, 2013 : Close on the heels of reports that  the wife of a Bhajrangdal activist named Sunil Kumar has committed suicide owing to dowry harassment, Bhajrangdal leader Sharan Pumpwell has clarified that the accused was not a Bhajrangdal member.

Sharan said “Sunil  Kumar has no links with Bhajrangdal,’ and added that his  organisation stood by the family of the  victim.

Sharan who spoke to media men outside the mortuary of the private hospital, said  Sunil was his neigbour and that it was not Sunil but his brother who was a member of the Bhajrangdal.

He also said “Bhajrangdal was always against atrocities on women and even opposed the Sumitha case. He also said the Bhajrangdal would co-operate in the investigation into the case.
