Sullia, December 27, 2025: A 22-year-old woman from Sullia, employed at a private cooperative society in Puttur, passed away due to a brain haemorrhage. In an extraordinary act of compassion, her family decided to donate her organs, giving a second chance at life to several patients.
The deceased has been identified as Sindhu, daughter of Mamatha, a resident of Rathabeedi, Sullia. She is survived by her mother and sister.

Sources report that on December 16, Sindhu was returning to Sullia from Puttur by bus when she slipped from her seat near Adkar. Fellow passengers rushed to assist her, and she was immediately taken to the Sullia Government Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital. Doctors detected neurological complications, prompting her transfer to a private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment.
Sindhu underwent surgery following the brain haemorrhage. Although she briefly regained consciousness, her brain eventually became completely non-functional, and she fell into a coma.
Despite total brain failure, her vital organs—including the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and eyes—were preserved with life-support assistance. After careful deliberation, Sindhu’s mother, Mamatha, made the courageous decision to donate her daughter’s organs, expressing that it would help save other lives.
Her organs were subsequently donated to Apollo Hospital, Mysuru, and to hospitals including Nitte, AJ, and KMC in Mangaluru. To ensure swift transportation, ambulance drivers along the Mani–Mysuru highway cleared the route, creating a zero-traffic corridor for the organs.
Mamatha, a daily wage worker, had been living in Jattippalla with her children. Her husband, Seetharama, had passed away two years ago after a prolonged illness. Despite hardships, Mamatha ensured her children’s education, arranged one daughter’s marriage, and secured employment for Sindhu. Her decision to donate her daughter’s organs during this moment of profound grief has drawn widespread praise, with many hailing her as a symbol of courage, compassion, and humanity.
