Sullia, Jul 23, 2026: Sullia Police have arrested a woman’s father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law in connection with the suspicious death of a married woman from Sampaje, following allegations of prolonged domestic harassment.
The deceased, Fathimath Nishana, had reportedly called her mother, Zubaida, a resident of Kedumbady in Puttur, on July 18, alleging that she was being harassed by her in-laws. When her family later reached her house, they found her dead.
Based on Zubaida’s complaint, Sullia Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The police have now arrested C.P. Alavi (54), the victim’s father-in-law, Ayesha C.A., her mother-in-law, and Faseela C.A. (29), her sister-in-law.
According to the complaint, Fathimath had been married four years ago and had allegedly been subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment by her in-laws.
The complaint further states that while Fathimath was speaking to her mother over the phone on the night of July 18, her father-in-law allegedly snatched the phone and threatened, saying he would kill her daughter. The following morning, Fathimath was found dead.
