
Sullia, Sep 4, 2026: A man who had been absconding for 14 years without appearing before the court in connection with a fraud case involving lakhs of rupees has been arrested by the Crime Detection Team of the North Sub-Division Police and produced before the court.
The arrested accused has been identified as Srinivas B.R., 48, a resident of Baithadka in Jalsoor village, Sullia taluk.
According to police, Srinivas had obtained a loan of Rs 10 lakh from Shriram Finance in 2009 to purchase a vehicle. He purchased a Telcon EX 70 vehicle but allegedly failed to repay the loan instalments and did not produce the vehicle for inspection. A case was registered against him at Moodbidri Police Station in 2012 on charges of cheating the finance company.
On September 2, the police apprehended Srinivas at Baithadka Junction in Jalsoor village and produced him before the court.
Police said another warrant is also pending against him in connection with a cheque-bounce case.
