Sullia: Four injured as speeding car rams into another vehicle from behind

Sullia, Feb 23, 2026: Four people were injured after a speeding car collided with their vehicle from behind on the Mani–Mysuru highway at Bolubailu in Jalsuru on February 21.

The injured have been identified as Vasantha, also known as Chandrashekhara, along with Ramya, Rashmi, and Advit, all residents of Halegetu in Sullia. They were reportedly on their way to buy clothes for an upcoming housewarming ceremony when the accident occurred.

According to reports, a car bearing registration number KA 01 MG 2133, driven by Manjunath, was allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner. The vehicle rammed into the rear of Vasantha’s car, causing him to lose control. Both cars sustained extensive damage in the impact.

Drunk driving suspected

The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The occupants of the other vehicle were identified as the driver, Manjunath, and a passenger, Jayarama.

Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that Manjunath appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. They alleged that he behaved erratically and spoke incoherently even after the collision.

Sullia police have registered a case and are investigating the incident, including the allegations of driving under the influence.
