Sullia: 3 labourers die as mud caves in during construction work

Sullia, Mar 25, 2023: In  a tragic incident, three labourers lost their lives as mud caved in while construction works at a place called Gurumpu in Aletti near Sullia on March 25, Saturday.

 

A person from Sullia was undertaking pillar works for construction of retention wall behind his house. On Saturday when the labourers were at work, mud had suddenly caved in. Of the seven labourers at work, four managed to escape while three were caught under a huge mound of soil.

Though rescue operations commenced immediately using a JCB,  the three labourers had died by the time they were retrieved.

Two of those  who lost their lives are Somashekhar Reddy (45) and Shantakka (35).

Sullia MLA and minister S Angara, Tahsildar Manjunath, Taluk Panchayat CEO Bhavani Shanker, Town Panchayat President Vinaykumar and others visited the spot.
