Sudden jail raid in Mangaluru: 2 mobiles, SIM card seized

Mangaluru, Dec 30, 2025: During a late-night surprise inspection at the city jail on Monday, led by the Jail Superintendent along with other officers and staff, authorities seized 2 mobile phones, 1 SIM card, and 1 wireless mobile charger.

Since these items are prohibited in the jail, they have been handed over to the Mangaluru Barkur Police Station, and a case has been registered. On the same day, the department heads, including Shri Alok Kumar, IPS, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Karnataka, were informed about the matter over the phone, according to District Jail Superintendent Sharan Basappa.
