The accused, identified as Prasad, was arrested by Subrahmanya police.

According to reports, Prasad and the young woman, who were in a relationship, had travelled to Bisle Ghat. There, he allegedly assaulted her and, believing her to be dead, abandoned her in a roadside drain before leaving the place.
