Students protest against newspaper for publishing false news

Udupi, Sep 7, 2012: As many as 1000 students of Udupi Ajjarakadu G. Shanker Women’s First Grade College, on September 7, Friday, organized a protest against a Bangalore-based newspaper called Parashu for publishing false sexual harassment reports. 


Parashu had reported that a lecturer of the college was sexually harassing the students with the support of the principal of the college.

The students organized a protest rally from the college to the Udupi Service Bus Stand, where they shouted slogans against the newspaper and burned several copies of it. 


The protestors told reporters that the news published in Parashu is false and puts a black mark on the reputation of the college. They demanded that the editor must come in person to the college before Monday and apologize, failing which they will organize a fast against the injustice caused to the college. 


The students then submitted a memorandum to the DC.
