Mangalore, Oct 5, 2012: The students of Dr. M. V. Shetty College of Social Work on Oct 5 Friday presented a street play in Mangalore to raise public awareness on malaria.
The play, which was held in collaboration with the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), was staged near Lady Goschen Hospital.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sudarshan, the health officer, expressed his appreciation of the students for attempting to raise public awareness on malaria.
He voiced his opinion that the public can be effectively educated about malaria and other vector-borne diseases through such street plays. He urged other colleges to organize street plays too and spoke a few words on how to prevent malaria and keep the surroundings clean.
Dr. Arun, district malaria control officer, inaugurated the event by beating on the drum.
