Mangalore, Nov 3, 2010: The state government issued an order on Nov 2, Tuesday cancelling the transfer of DC V. Ponnuraj to Shimoga. The transfer orders of a KAS officer and 3 more IAS officers were also cancelled.
V. Ponnuraj, IAS, was transferred to Shimoga to take the place of Pankaj Kumar Pandey. Since Pankaj Pandey’s transfer orders have also been cancelled, he remains the DC of Shimoga district.
P. Shivashankar, the chief executive officer of the DK Zilla Panchayat, who was transferred to Shimoga Zilla Panchayat as its chief executive officer, will remain in his present post. V. B. Patil, the secretary of the Karnataka Public Service Commission, who was transferred to the post of director of agricultural market, will also retain his post. G. Ramachandra will continue functioning as the director of agricultural market.
A. B. Ibrahim, the Karnataka Administrative Service officer, who was transferred to the post of commission of the local city corporation, has been allotted the post of the chief administrative officer of Kaveri Irrigation Corporation, which has its headquarters in Mysore. Meanwhile, DK District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar said that the transfer of Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash has also been cancelled.
V. Ponnuraj’s next posting is not yet certain. Many local people had been upset by the transfer of V. Ponnuraj, who had become very popular because of his development projects in the district. Since Subodh Yadav has already taken over as the DC of DK, Ponnuraj might not be able to continue as the DC of DK. Since the government has not revealed the next posting of V. Ponnuraj, a number of reporters tried contacting Ponnuraj to find out about his next posting; however, the former DC of DK did not answer the calls.
