State Govt to launch Rajiv Gandhi Chaitanya scheme: Minister H K Patil

Mangalore, Sep 16, 2013: Rural development and Panchayat Raj minister H K Patil said that soon after coming into power, the congress led government launched various developmental programmes including Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya schemes.

Addressing at the press meet held at District Congress Office on Sep 16, Monday, he said that the government has even established more than 1000 units across the state to provide clean drinking water. It also waived bank loans taken by minorities and SC/STs, he added.


Congress government in just 100 days of its existence have completed more than 50 percent of the promised works as given in the election manifesto.


As part of rural development project, government will build toilets for 56 lakhs families. At present 1000 toilets are under construction, he said.


The previous government has not conducted around 95% of ward meetings and 70% gram panchayat meetings, but the Congress government is trying to improve the work speed in all panchayaths.


Patil said that, government to launch the Rajiv Gandhi Chaitanya scheme, under which, the government will provide employment opportunities to 2 lakhs youths from rural villages, out them one lakh youths will be trained for 45 days to one month in dairy, pottery and poultry, in order o bring the deprived youths to mainstream.


Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Suresh Ballal, Kallige Tharnath Shetty, Sadashiv Ullal ad others were present.
