St. Theresa’s School attacked early this morning

Mangalore, Oct 23, 2011: St. Theresa’s School in Bendoor was attacked by unknown people in the early hours of October 23 Sunday. 


A group of 3 people arrived by bike, hurled stones at the statue of St. Theresa, damaged its fibrer glass covers, and fled. One of the windows of the school is also damaged. This happened between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. The night watchman heard the noise, but when he rushed to stop them, they fled.

Sr. Premitha, the principal of school, said that she felt sad about this attack on an educational institution, stating that this incident is unexpected because there was no reason for it. She expressed hopes that the police would soon catch the culprits. 


The school has lodged a complaint at Kadri Police Station. 


Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, arrived on the scene and conducted preliminary investigation. 


The school has been attacked 3 times in the past, twice in 2007 and once in 2009.
