Mangaluru, Aug 1, 2025: St Antony Church, Kulur, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha and ICYM units of the parish, organized a paddy transplantation drive in the fields of Mrs. Maizy Pereira, Melkoppala, Kulur, on Sunday. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, Sisters of the parish, Catholic Sabha President Mr. Rowin D’Souza, ICYM President Mr. Arwin Monteiro, and over 85 parishioners participated in the event.

The initiative, inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, aimed to raise ecological awareness while reviving traditional farming practices. The rice harvested from this initiative will be distributed to the needy, combining environmental stewardship with social outreach.

This drive followed the successful “Gadyanth Ek Dees” (A Day in the Paddy Field) held on June 22, 2025, which brought together youth, elders, and families in a community farming experience filled with folk songs and cultural spirit.
