St. Anthony’s Shrine at Anthonykatte to celebrate annual feast on June 13

Mangalore,June 7, 2011: Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, inaugurated and blessed the recently renovated St. Anthony’s Shrine at Antonykatte on the way to Bajpe on June 4, Saturday and celebrated the Holy Eucharist followed by novena in preparation for the annual feast of the shrine on June 13, Monday.

In May 2008, the bishop had blessed the St. Anthony’s Chapel, which was built for the benefit of Christian families that were displaced while acquiring land for the construction of a second tarmac at the Bajpe Airport.

The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Chapel at Antonykatte in Bajpe will be held on June 13 Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Fr. Joseph Martis, the rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary, will celebrate the festive Holy Eucharist with Fr. Melwyn D’Souza, the parish priest of the Mary Help of Christians Church in Adyapady, concelebrating.

The 9-day novena has already commenced on June 4, Saturday and will continue till June 12, Sunday. Throughout the year, a holy mass followed by novena is held at 5:30 p.m. at this chapel.

Joseph Mascarenhas, the vice president of the parish council in Mariapura Church, Adyapady, delivered the welcome address. The bishop felicitated everybody who had contributed toward the renovation of the chapel.
