
Mangalore, Aug 16, 2013: The Birth Centenary Celebration of eminent teacher and mathematician Prof K A Krishnamurthy will be held at Eric Mathias Hall, PG Block of St Aloysius College on August 23, Friday at 10 am.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on August 16, Friday, Walter D’Souza, Regional Chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organizations said that Prof K A Krishnamurthy has served the College for more than four decades.

As a great teacher of mathematics, Prof Krishnamurthy was admired by eminent persons like Dr TMA Pai, T A Pai and thousands of his students. His service in Mangalore city had profound impact on his students and admirers. He retired from service in 1973 and passed away in 1996, informed Walter D’Souza. It is quite befitting that his students have come forward to celebrate the birth centenary of their beloved teacher. It also is a great message to the society that great people are revered even much after their death, he further said.
Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University will preside over the birth centenary function and Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte University will be the chief guest, informed Rev Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of the College and Secretary of the Prof. K Krishnamurthy Centenary Celebration Committee.
Ananthakrishna, Non-Executive Chairman of Karnataka Bank will release the souvenir commemorating the yeomen services of Prof K A Krishnamurthy.
Rev Fr Denzil Lobo, Rector of St Aloysius Institution and Prof K R Upadhyaya, former HOD of Mathematics of St Aloysius College will be the guests of honour.
The Organizing committee will establish an Endowment Fund in the name of Prof Murthy at the College to popularize Mathematics among students. The winners of various competitions organised as a part of the celebrations will be awarded, he further informed.
