St Agnes College organizes UGC-sponsored national level conference

Mangalore, Jan 18: The Library and Information Centre of St Agnes College organized a UGC-sponsored national level conference titled “Empowering Library Professionals in Managing Digital Resources and Providing Extension Activities” in the conference hall of St Agnes College on January 18, Monday.

Dr N Nagambika Devi, IAS, the commissioner of the Department of Collegiate Education, government of Karnataka, inaugurated the conference. Dr. G K Manjunath, the chief librarian of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai, delivered the key-note address.

Sandhya S Pai, the managing editor of Taranga, the Kannada weekly, was the guest of honour. Dr Sr Marie Prem D’Souza AC, the principal of St Agnes College presided over the function.


Dr Vishala B K, the selection grade librarian and convener of the programme made the welcome speech. Dr Khaiser M Khan, the reader of the Department of Library and Information Science, Mangalore University, spoke about the conference. 


During the first thematic session of the conference, subjects such as institutional repositories and libraries outreach/extension activities were discussed.
