Mangalore, Feb 6, 2013: Kumar Malemar, District President of SRS has said that drug mafia has sprouted all over the city like a mushroom and urged the district administration to take action against the drug peddlers without any hesitation.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Feb 6, Wednesday, he defended the raids of Hindu organizations on pubs and discotheques by stating that the raids were intended at cracking down the drug mafia and preventing youth from falling prey to it.
He further questioned why the Left parties which staged protest against the homestay attack, were now not coming forward to condemn the drug mafia which resulted in the suicide of Sneha. “ First it was Ashwini and now it is Sneha, still the administration is not serious about the problem,” he alleged.
“The police department has booked Subash Padil and 37 other Hindu activists who only tried to crack down the drugs mafia, but have not chosen to initiate action against places like Goldfinch, Liquid Lounge, Empire Mall and City Centre, where discotheques function till mid-night,” he said.
On the homestay attack, he said that the police department would have very well found drugs at the place had it undertaken a thorough search. “ Drug mafia is not easily tackled in the city mainly because of the involvement of political leaders and their relatives,” he alleged.
He further warned that the Sri Rama Sene would not hesitate to resort to violent means of protest if the administration fails to cracks down the drug mafia.
SRS activists Jeevan Neermarga, Mohan Padavinangady, Ganesh Attavar and Mahesh Bhat were present at the press meet.
