Spirit of dead taxi driver of Kundapur enters mother’s body; declares he was murdered

Kundapur, Oct 6, 2012: The spirit of a young taxi driver from near Kundapur who met a mysterious death, has  entered the body of his own mother to bust the mystery behind his death. Well, this is not a scene straight from some Bollywood thriller, but a ‘real life’ incident reported from Hemmady near here. There has been a new but dramatic twist to the case of suspicious death of taxi driver Yogish Ganiga of Thariberu near Hemmady whose body was found hanging from a tree at Kabettu cross on Nada-Aloor Main road on September 26.  According to reports, Yogish’s mother was recently possessed by the spirit of her deceased son which revealed that Yogish was murdered and that it was not a suicide. This new and unbelievable twist to this case, has landed Yogish’s family including his mother and elder brother in complete  dilemma as also the cops who are wondering if the story is to be believed or not. But, beyond doubt, this case is now the talk of the town.

Yogish’s body was found hanging from a tree using his own trousers and the legs were touching the ground, giving room for suspicion regarding the cause of the death.  Meanwhile, the police have until now failed to make any headway into the investigation even a week after the incident.

If reports are to be believed,  it was exactly four days after the death of Yogish that his mother Gulabi was possessed by her dead son’s spirit  which  told the family that he was killed and it was not a suicide as he had no reason to end his life.
 

This was what the spirit reportedly told “At around 9 pm on September 25, I was on way to Nada from Aloor, when two friends stopped my vehicle at Harkur Moorukai and sought a drop. I agreed and later four more persons whose identity I do not know joined them.  As the vehicle neared Kabettu cross, those in the vehicle, strangulated me using the seat belt. Later, they dragged me out of the vehicle and hanged my body to a nearby tree in the forest when I breathed my last. I cried out Amma twice before I died.”

It seems the spirit has also answered the query of the family as to who killed him, and  has mentioned the names of two friends who are residents of Aloor area. At the same time it said it does not know about the others.

It seems when the family told the spirit not to trouble the mother repeatedly, it reportedly  told in that case it would enter the body of Dinesh, son of his paternal uncle and asked him to go to the station where it would reveal the truth. But, surprisingly, the spirit fell silent when it was asked to choose his elder brother Jagadish instead.

The next time Gulabi was possessed by the evil spirit was when the family was getting ready to go to Gokarna in Yogish’s vehicle itself for some rituals. This time the spirit asked them not to go in his vehicle.

Whatever may be the mystery behind the death, Yogish’s brother Jagadish has lodged a complaint with the Gangolli police mentioning the names of two persons revealed by the spirit. Police have now said that the investigation is in progress.

This case has aroused much curiosity in the area and people are wondering what would be outcome of the police investigation and whether the probe would prove that the spirit was ‘right.’
