Sowjanya murder accused produced in court

Belthangady, Oct 15, 2012: The police, who had arrested Santhosh Rao in connection with the rape and murder of 17-year-old Sowjanya, produced him before the Belthangady First Class Magistrate Court on Oct 14, Sunday.

They later took him to the spot of crime for further investigation. The police are planning to seek custody of Santhosh Rao after 15 days because he requires medical treatment for his mental illness at present.

 

The police are now trying to find out if he was also responsible for the murder of two old people in Dharmasthala on September 20.

Abhishek Goyal, DK superintendent of police, has confirmed that Santhosh Rao of Bajagoli in Karkala had confessed to raping and murdering the teenager who was returning home from college on Oct 9.
