Sowjanya case: State govt forms SIT headed by N Shashikumar following SC directive

Beltangady, Sep 25, 2026: Following the Supreme Court’s directive for a reinvestigation into the Sowjanya case, the Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct the probe.

Inspector General of Police N Shashikumar has been appointed as the head of the SIT.

According to the government order, the team comprises Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, State Intelligence Superintendent of Police Nisha James, Bengaluru CID Superintendent of Police Lokesh Jagalasar, and Bengaluru Rural Additional Superintendent of Police Venkatesh Prasanna.

The SIT will undertake the reinvestigation in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.
