Soujanya case reinvestigation: IG Shashikumar relieved as SIT Chief

Mangaluru, Oct 29, 2026: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shashikumar, who was appointed head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to reinvestigate the Soujanya case in Dharmasthala, has been relieved of his duties for personal reasons. An official order regarding his removal is yet to be issued.

Shashikumar had reportedly submitted a request to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar seeking to be relieved of his SIT responsibilities.

Sources indicate that Laburam or Chetan Singh Rathore is likely to be appointed as the new SIT chief.

An order transferring ASP Venkatesh Prasanna is also expected. ACP Srinidhi is likely to replace him, according to senior sources.
