Someshwara youth dies by suicide in Oman

Oman/Ullal, Mar 3, 2026: A youth from Someshwara, who was working in Oman, died by suicide by hanging on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Puneeth Poojary (32), son of Chandru and Deepa, residents of Someshwara.

Puneeth had been employed with a lift company in Oman for the past one-and-a-half years. He had returned home about one-and-a-half months ago and had later gone back to Oman.

It is learnt that he had been in a relationship with a young woman from Urwa in the city for the past four years. In recent days, she had reportedly stopped answering his calls and messages and had expressed her unwillingness to continue the relationship. Allegedly distressed over this, Puneeth is said to have recorded a video on social media before taking the extreme step.

He is survived by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
