Small Christian Community of Mangalore Diocese celebrates silver jubilee

Mangalore, May 16, 2013: The silver jubilee celebrations of The Small Christian Community (SCC) of Mangalore Diocese was held at the St Sebastian Church, Bendore on May 16, Thursday. Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, offered the Eucharistic Mass while Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General, Fr Herald Pereira, Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendore  Church and  Fr Walter D’Souza, Director of SCC were the concelebrants.

The newly elected MLA of Mangalore South Constituency JR Lobo was felicitated at a formal stage function held at the St Sebastia Church Hall later on. The Bishop felicitated Lobo on his   remarkable victory in the elections.


Responding to the felicitation, Lobo said he was extremely thankful to the members of the Catholic community as also people of all communities who extended their support to him and elected him as their representative.


Lobo also hailed the contributions of the Small Christians Community to the  community  and added it was the duty of each and every Christian to spread the  message of God. He also sought the support of the people of his constituency in all his works as an MLA.


Vicar General Fr Denis Moras Prabhu released a souvenir  brought out by the SCC to commemorate its silver jubilee. An audio CD on SCC brought out by Fr Walter D’Souza was released by the Bishop on the occasion.


Fr Gilbert D’Souza, Fr Walter D’Souza, Sr Lydia Serrao, Sr Usha, LJ Fernandes, Robert D’Souza, Helen Frank, Fr Alphonse D’Lima and  Fr Herald Pereira were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the SCC over the past 25 years.
